Companion's birthday in Prescott

Here is Matthew and some other elders. They blew up over 300 balloons to celebrate his companion's birthday. Doesn't missionary work look fun!

Matt's 1st Missionary Holiday

Matthew got to enjoy Thanksgiving with this family in Arizona. It looks like they had a great time. One of the guys is Matt's companion, the other guy is in the process of putting in his papers. Another of their sons is currently serving a mission.

Rachel is off!!

Well, Rachel has gone off to college. We had a wonderful time shopping and helping her set up her dorm room (they are sooo small). We all had a great time. In this picture she and Emma are posing in front of the Equinox we rented - we nicknamed it "The Blue Beast". Please note that I am illegally parked on campus!!

MTC e-mail info

Matt is doing really well at the MTC. He even met up with his cousin who is leaving for her mission in SLC. He would love to hear from people. He can get your e-mail if you go to www.dearelder.com. It is free to send e-mails to him in the MTC. They will print it out and put it in his mailbox. His mailbox number is 307 and expected departure date is 10/09/07. He also met up with an old friend from Texas and thought it was so cool.

Matthew - Off to the MTC

Monday morning we went to the airport very early in the morning and sent Matthew off to the MTC. His Uncle Michael was there. Uncle David came with Johnathan, Lindy and Kim. Valerie came with her husband and baby. All to cheer him on.

He is going to Phoenix, Arizona

Matthew is going to the Phoenix, Arizona, Spanish speaking. (Unfortunately, or may be fortunately, he has taken 5 years of French.) He reports to the MTC on August 8th. His farewell talk was yesterday. He did a wonderful job. I am very excited for him. I can not express how grateful I am to my family for their support. We have been shopping like crazy. JC Penney's was having a sale so I cleaned them out of white shirts in his size. They are not very easy to find - so I was glad I found what I could. He is planning to go through the temple on the 4th of August (Saturday) so if anyone would like to come along please give me a call.

Matthew received his mission call this afternoon. He is very excited and is currently working on calling everybody he knows. So if you haven't gotten a personal call yet, you will - just have patience. He is serving his mission in. . . do you want me to tell you? . . or do you want to wait for the phone call! I'll let you wait for him to tell you. Just know that he is very happy. He reports on August 8th to the MTC. (So he can read the new Harry Potter book!) It will be a wonderful experience (the mission not the book). I am so pleased for him.
